Bleaching Earth

Bleaching Earth

What Are Its Industrial Advantages?

01

High Adsorption Capacity

Thanks to its fine pores and large surface area, it can adsorb many times its mass in impurities. By capturing phospholipids, soaps, free fatty acids, peroxides, and trace metals, maximum purification is achieved with minimum clay consumption.

02

Easy Filtration and Fast Separation

Properly selected bleaching earth does not impede flow by clogging filters when filtered out of the oil at the end of the process. With a low oil retention rate, it leaves less than 25% oil in the spent clay cake, minimizing oil loss.

03

Chemical Neutrality and Safety

Natural bleaching earths consist of non-toxic minerals approved for food contact. They impart no harmful residues to the processed product.

04

Especially acid-activated clays act not only as physical adsorbents but also partially as solid acid catalysts.

Acid-activated clays act like solid acid catalysts, breaking down undesirable peroxides and increasing oxidative stability of the oil. They provide both adsorption and reaction in a single process.

05

Adaptability and Flexibility for Different Oil Types

By adjusting the activation level or particle size of natural clays, process-specific solutions are offered for sunflower, high-chlorophyll soybean/canola, and mineral oils.
